Devotion to Mary – II

Therefore our devotion to the saints (something always encouraged by St. Louis-Marie de Montfort) should be a help and encouragement to us in our devotion to Mary.  We see what Our Lady did for them and we ask them to ensure that she will do the same for us.  Thus the objection that we cannot have devotion to the saints if we take up the True Devotion is meaningless.  Furthermore did any saint ignore the Mother of Christ?  If Mary was such a powerful aid to them, then that, surely, should be an incentive to increase our devotion to her.  Our desire should be to vie with the saints in devotion to her, so that Mary will be more than ever our model and a powerful aid to us.  This is Montfort’s thought: ‘The greatest saints, those souls richest in grace and virtue, will be the most persistent in praying to Our Blessed Lady, in having her ever present as their perfect model to be imitated and as their powerful aid to assist them.’
