St. Robert Bellarmine

St. Robert Bellarmine

Today (Sept. 17) is the Feast of St. Robert Bellarmine. His sacred relics, seen here, are housed in the Roman church Sant’Ignazio di Loyola. He is buried next to the tomb of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, whose spiritual director he was, and at whose feet he asked to be buried. He said: “Bury me at the feet of my ghostly child.” He gave St. Aloysius his last Holy Communion. The church also contains the relics of St. John Berchmans.
