St. Ambrose of Milan

Today is the Feast of St. Ambrose, the great archbishop of Milan. His relics are in the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan.

Excavations beneath the Duomo have uncovered the baptistery where St. Ambrose baptized St. Augustine.

St. Maria Goretti

Today is the Feast of St. Maria Goretti, a martyr for purity. She is buried in the crypt of the Sanctuary of St. Maria Goretti in Nettuno. Enjoy!

St. Luke the Evangelist

Today is the Feast of St .Luke the Evangelist.

Here is his sarcophagus in the Basilica of Santa Giustina in Padua.  Above the sacrcophagus is an image of Our Lady of Constantinople.

Many images of Our Lady are attributed to St. Luke, including the “Salus Populi Romani” (Salvation of the Roman People) in Santa Maria Maggiore, and “Our Lady of Perpetual Help” in Sant’Alfonso.  Both churches are in Rome.

There is also the great Capuchin, St. Leopold Mandic.
